Having attended the advanced screening of "My Future You," a frontrunner in this year's Metro Manila Film Festival, we knew anyone who'd watch it will be glad they did for these reasons:
1. Inspired pairing
While Francine Diaz and Seth Fedelin have been a love team for some time now, "My Future You" is their launching movie that allowed them to exhibit chemistry that can only be seen and felt in such a magnified way as on the silver screen. They definitely have magic together that it will be no surprise for FranSeth to become the loveteam to beat in just the near future.
2. Great story
We went to watch the movie expecting rom-com but we got more than that. Like the rest of the audience the night we saw "My Future You ," we found ourselves applauding everytime a twist in the story presented itself that we obviously did not anticipate. Yes, "My Future You" has the requisite kilig moments moved forward by a narrative to keep anyone glued to their seats up till the credits roll.
3. Perfect theme song
One of the biggest OPM hits this year, "Museo" by Eliza Maturan, is used powerfully in the movie to add even more magic, more value to the scenes the song is employed. If you would analyze the lyrics you'd see that the song has a unique perspective on love that perfectly fits the extraordinary story of "My Future You."
4. Lessons learned
We were actually surprised about the somewhat profound messages "My Future You" gives viewers. Lessons on sacrifice, love willing to wait, acceptance, family, magical moments disguised as coincidences---it's all there.
5. Legacy
"My Future You" is one of the last movies the late Mother Lily Monteverde of Regal Entertainment approved for production. And, indeed, it is yet another legacy worthy of her name, and a testament to her genius and profound love for the movie industry as well as its public.
