WATCH: Jace Roque's time finally comes

Jace Roque

Seven years after he first pitched to be signed by a major label, Ppop solo artist Jace Roque is now under contract with Star Music.

In an interview, the artist revealed being turned down before because he was into EDM and dance music "and the labels were moving away from that" in 2017. But with the likes of SB19 and Bini making it big with danceable tunes these days, it appears Jace was ahead of his time after all and that he is artist whose time has finally come.

He considers the single "Casual"  as "the end and start of a new era" in his career. The dance pop track with touch of Latin and Reggaeton sounds tackles love and sex. It's off "Paradiso" album with a track list that Jace built through the years as intermational indie artist. He pointed out that the challenge in creating the album was having stand-alone tracks that evolved with every release but that these should sound cohesive when released as a whole.

Jace said that he plans to write more songs in Filipino now that he is with Star Music. While conversational in Tagalog, Jace admits that he doesn't believe he is poetic enough writing lyrics in Filipino. "But I will try," he said, with guidance from Star Music and in collaboration with his friend, music artist Hazel Faith.

"I am fortunate to now have a support system that doesn't minimize my work but believe in the same things I do as an artist," he said. "We are headed in the same direction."
