No thanks to the pandemic, the theatrical run of "G! LU," which started filming in 2019, was pushed back indefinitely. Some people even thought it just might go straight to some streaming platform---but they were wrong.

ALV Films' "G! LU" starring David Licauco, Teejay Marquez, Derrick Monasterio, Kiko Estrada, Enzo Pineda and Ruru Madrid is scheduled to hit cinemas nationwide on April 24. It is written and directed by Philip King of Rein Entertainment in tandem with Benchingco Films,

During a press conference held at Kao Manila inside Newport World Resorts, the question posed five years ago resurfaced: What would you do if you are young, wild and free and you are in the last seven days of summer?

For the six members of the VBC (Valley Boys Club), they used the time to strengthen their friendship and live their best life, as one of them may not live beyond.

VBC is a clique of affluent teenagers. Their friendship began as neighbors in an exclusive subdivision and carried on until their third year of collage in a private university. Together, they've been facing the perils and challenges of young adulthood, heightened and complicated by their upper class upbringing.

Their world is turned upside down after a bar altercation sparks their parents’ decision to have them finish their last year of college in different parts of the world. With their looming separation upon them, they embark on their last barkada trip to La Union where their friendship transforms into a real brotherhood even as they bare well-chiseled abs and bikini-ready bods on the beach.

According to King, the movie's backdrop also serves as a travelogue—a timely nod to environmental awareness and ecotourism promotion.

Also in the cast are Pinky Amador, Michelle Dee, Katarina Rodriguez, Chanel Morales, Maureen Montagne, Sophia Senoron, Kimi Mugford, Ali Forbes, Carl Guevara, Ken Anderson and Denver Hernandez.

No stranger to the movie industry, respected talent manager and entrepreneur Arnold Vegafria of ALV Films is slowly gaining critical success as movie producer. The Beauty Gonzalez-Kelvin Miranda starrer, "After All," was ALV Films' most recent release last February. After "G! LU," the sexy romance flick "My Stepmother’s Lover," starring Sunshine Cruz, Kiko Estrada and Martin del Rosario, opens in theaters in June.

Vegafria is confident "G! LU" will resonate with people, especially the millennial generation.

“I’m sure today’s kids will identify with the different characters they’ll see in the movie, and can relate to all their coming-of-age problems, especially now that mental health issues have become more relevant...”

He thanked GMA Network for their support, to the extent that they have acquired the TV rights for the movie.

“I’m also very happy for my former Miss World queens – Katarina, Michelle, Maureen, Kimi, Sophia and Chanel – since this is one of their very first movie projects.”

Vegafria noted that the local movie industry is on an upswing, and he hopes to create more movies as "G! LU" that has unique storyline.

"We also look forward to collaborate with foreign productions who share our vision for movie magic.”
