Jhassy Busran, Tonton Gutierrez share amusing stories at 'Unspoken Letters' mediacon

Funny, but Jhassy Busran thinks it's a "privilege" to get slapped on camera by MMFF Best Actress winner Gladys Reyes.

She said so in an interview a few days ago at the grand mediacon attended by the main cast of the movie "Unspoken Letters" at B Hotel in Quezon City. Jhassy knew from other actors Gladys worked with in the past that the latter packs a mean punch when it comes to slapping. Still, the young actress geared up, faced Gladys and took it like a (wo)man!

Surprisingly, though, it was Gladys who shed tears after watching the playback of that scene. Apparently, Gladys has a family member who is quite in the same boat that Jhassy plays in the movie so she couldn't help but relate to the scenario. The awarded actress said she could not imagine---would never dare---hurting her family that way and so that scene just hit too close to home.

Did the slap hurt?  Not to mince words, Jhassy admitted so though she added goodnaturedly that it's all part of the job. After all, like her "slapper," the "slapee" has her share of acting trophies too, some of these coming from international award-giving bodies. So, really, Jhassy was prepared  for such a scene and who better than with Gladys, right?

Utmost Creatives' "Unspoken Letters" sees Jhassy play Felipa, a 17-year-old girl with an intellectual disability. The full trailer of the movie was shown during the press conference and Jhassy just shines throughout.

Aside from Gladys, the other cast members are Tonton Gutierrez, Glydel Mercado, Matet de Leon, Simon Ibarra, Deborah Sun, Orlando Sol, John Hendrick, Kristine Samson, MJ Manuel and Daria Ramirez. The red carpet premiere of "Unspoken Letters" was held Nov. 30 at Trinoma Mall Cinema 6.

Speaking of Tonton, he, too, was amused in pointing out the fact that his wife, Glydel Mercado, is mom to his character in "Unspoken Letters." The actor said that being professional actors, and finding the script of the movie too good to pass up, they gamely accepted their roles though they would rib eac other about it from time to time.

Written and directed by Gat Alaman and co-directed by Italian director Paolo Bertola, "Unspoken Letters" will be shown in theaters starting Dec. 13.
