'Online In Love' series delves into world of social media stars

Cast of 'Online In Love' series

With a study saying more than half the teenage population worldwide dreams of becoming an influencer, "Online In Love" can't be timelier than now.

A recent press conference held at Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar introduced the cast, director and writer of the show to media. It turns out the actors are real-life influencers while the director and cast are thoroughly knowledge, if not actually immersed, in the show's subject.

"Online in Love" introduces Thadz, Lance, Hannah, and Aira, the first-ever contestants of "The Influencer Academy," a groundbreaking reality search for the Philippines' next biggest social media sensation. Each contestant is vying for the grand prize of Php10 million, but little do they know that this journey will test not only their skills but also their hearts.

Thadz, a talented composer, reluctantly joins the academy under the pressure of his overbearing celebrity mother, Madam Pink Rose. Behind his icy demeanor, Thadz seeks a genuine connection and hopes to find it within the academy's walls.

Lance, armed with dancing skills and a happy-go-lucky attitude, is determined to make his absent mother proud by becoming an influencer and achieving success on his own terms.

Hannah, nursing a broken heart, aims to prove her ex wrong by showcasing her singing prowess as she embarks on a journey of self-discovery through content creation. Meanwhile, Aira has dreams of stardom in her eyes as she joins the academy, outrunning her real life that threatens to catch up with her projected persona.

Inside The Influencer Academy, contestants are housed in the Viral Villa and provided with state-of-the-art equipment for content creation, including cameras, ring lights, and backdrops. Their ultimate goal is to accumulate i-points, the social currency fans can buy to support their favorite influencer. Each episode features a different challenge, led by a guest artist as a facilitator/mentor. Fans can gift i-points to their favorite contestants after each challenge. The unseen Headmasters have the power to add or deduct i-points, constantly shaking up the leaderboard.

The winner of "The Influencer Academy" receives Php5 million in cash, Php1 million worth of gadgets, and a one-year contract valued at Php4 million.

The cast includes Gab Rosales as Thadz, Daniel Bautista as Lance, Jassy Calupitan as Hannah, Jewel Gines as Aira, Marissa Joelle as Elizabeth Aragon, and Pink Rose Santiago as Madam Pink Rose.
Special guests include Oreo Libios as Game Master Kent Roldan and Elsa Droga as herself, offering guidance and challenges to the contestants.

Produced by MJ in partnership with Mabuhay PH Media Production, the "Online in Love" story was conceptualized by the series director, Jag Cruz, and was written by Eldrin Veloso.

The show's venue partners are Las Casas Filipinas De Acuzar and VS Hotel.
In addition to the series, Mabuhay PH Media Production will host a series of crash courses on "Influencer 101," providing aspiring web celebs with insights on how to unleash their inner influencer.
