Public servant Alfred Vargas and wife Yasmien are disappointed over the dismissal of the complaint they filed relating to the alleged bullying of their son during a swimming training session.
Still, it inspired them to "continue working for the truth and for a safer community for our children."
"We will not give up," read part of his statement on the matter posted on social media. "We say no to bullying with greater determination. Itutuloy namin ang aming pagtutol at paglaban sa bullying."
They thanked supporters who continue to stand by them.
"In our moment of doubt, all of you gave us clarity and purpose," he wrote. "You gave us strength. Nalaman namin na hindi kami nag-iisa."
Alfred admitted that upon reading the decision of the court to dismiss the case "gumuho ang mundo ko."
"Naawa ako sa aking mga anak. Nahiya ako sa kanila. I felt like I failed them as a parent," the public servant said.
Pointing out that being a minor at seven years old, he claimed that "sinaktan siya ng paulit-ulit, binigyan ng trauma, namiligro ang buhay niya, ipinahiya sa harap ng maraming tao."
He lamented: "Tapos sasabihin 'away bata' lang at wala na kaming magagawa? Paano na yung anak ko na biniktima? Wala ba siyang karapatang mabuhay ng ligtas at walang takot?"
He ended his three-page statement by addressing their supporters.
"Maraming, maraming salamat sa inyong pagmamahal at panalangin."
