'Kappa-tiran' in line with Mamay's advocacy

Nunungan, Lanao del Norte Vice Mayor Marcos Mamay bankrolls upcoming film about fraternity "Kappa-tiran" with benevolence in mind.

"Hindi natin iniisip kung ano ang makukuha natin sa movie bilang producer, kundi kung pano natin matutulungan ang movie industry at makapagbigay ng trabaho bilang public servant," he said to that effect at the recent story conference of the movie.

Some scenes from the movie will be filmed soon in Nunungan, Lanao del Norte, thus, helping not just tourism but the local economy in general.

"Hindi lang tayo dapat sa ilang sektor ng lipunan naka-focus, kundi maging ang movie industry," said the good public servant, who happens to be an Executive Adviser of the Actors Guild of the Philippines who advocates for Mindanao-based artists.

The movie comes in the heels of "Mamay: A Journey to Greatness" movie from Mamay Productions that won big in the recent awards derby.


Directed by Neal "Buboy" Tan, Kappa-tiran" stars Ejay Falcon, Sheryl Cruz, Bembol Roco, Sam Coloso, Patricia Javier, Bernie Batin, Mygz Molino, Jimsen Jison, Darwis Esmaeili, and a slew of budding actors.

"Kappa-tiran" will be submitted to the next Manila International Film Festival.
