Can a wild beast learn to love? This question lies at the heart of a fantasy-romance that audiences should look forward to as Viva Films kicks off 2026 with the Philippine adaptation of the Korean movie ‘A Werewolf Boy,’ led by one of today’s fast-rising tandems, Rabin Angeles and Angela Muji.
Following their success in Viva One’s Seducing Drake Palma, a Wattpad series that has consistently stayed in the Top 10 Most Watched on the streaming platform since its release, Rabin and Angela—together known as as RabGel—now bring their chemistry to a deeper and more dramatic place in their first full-length film together.
‘A Werewolf Boy’ follows Sara, portrayed by Angela Muji, a young woman dealing with an illness that forces her family to relocate to a quiet countryside home. There, they discover a feral figure—a mysterious boy in their barn who is unable to speak and exhibits animal-like instincts—brought to life by Rabin Angeles in one of his most demanding roles to date.
Sara’s mother decides to take Boy in, and as Sara teaches him to eat, read, and behave like a human, a special connection begins to grow between them. Through their bond, Boy experiences warmth and care for the first time, while Sara finds renewed purpose in looking after him.
But Boy’s fierce attachment to her soon leads to trouble when his protective instincts attract suspicion from the community, particularly from Juancho, Sara’s arrogant suitor, who becomes determined to uncover Boy’s true nature.
When the truth about Boy’s origins emerges, Sara is forced into a heartbreaking decision to protect him—one that sets their lives on separate paths. Can a love this extraordinary survive the challenges of time and circumstance, or will the differences between them prove too great to conquer?
Under the direction of award-winning filmmaker Crisanto Aquino (My Future You, Instant Daddy), who previously guided the pair in Seducing Drake Palma, this adaptation promises a fresh emotional vision and a deeper exploration of Boy and Sara’s connection.
The original Korean film, headlined by superstars Song Joong-ki and Park Bo-young, achieved blockbuster success and became a standout in the fantasy-romance genre. Now, Rabin and Angela take on the challenge of reimagining these iconic roles for a new generation, bringing their natural chemistry to a story that has captivated audiences.
Rabin shared in an interview that he had long hoped for a project like this, and considers it a significant milestone for him and Angela. In preparing for his role as Boy, he studied various wolf-themed books, series, and movies, but intentionally avoided watching the original material to bring a fresh approach to his character.
Joining Rabin and Angela is a stellar ensemble led by award-winning actress Lorna Tolentino, whose special participation holds a key place in the story’s journey. Alongside her are Albie Casiño, Candy Pangilinan, Yayo Aguila, Jeffrey Hidalgo, Annika Co, Rose Van Ginkel, Angel Raymundo, Raffy Tejada, Onyl Torres, Boaz Mariano, Francis Mata, Simon Ibarra, Omar Flores, Ruslan Jacob, Luna Amor Buniag, Lui Manansala, and Kanye Avendaño, all of whom play important roles in Boy and Sara’s story.
Don’t miss the chance to witness this extraordinary tale of love, longing, and devotion unfold on the big screen. ‘A Werewolf Boy’ opens in cinemas nationwide on January 14, 2026.
