Christmas came early this year---even before Simbang Gabi started---for fans of Imelda Papin with the release of "Pilipino Tayo."

Written by Mon del Rosario, the song was launched at a jampacked Tanghalan Pasigueno last Dec. 8, bearing a call to unity just like one of her biggest hits to date, "One."

Currently the director of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, the singer was asked in an interview about current events and issues, all of which she navigated smoothly.

While rendering "Pilipino Tayo" live, Imelda's daughter, the singer Mafi, did interpretative dance. Later, as if to signify her sincere intent to be inclusive, the program included indigenous people to an imam.

A friend of the singer generously sponsored a thousand burgers so everyone went home full and with smile.

Among Imelda's most iconic hits are "Kung Liligaya Ka Sa Piling Ng Iba," "Isang Linggong Pag-ibig" and "Taksil."

"Pilipino Tayo" is an upbeat tune with World Music feel. It takes about defending the motherland and standing by countrymen in the name of patriotism.
