B-day girl Debbie Lopez levels up

Blessings often come on birthdays and it's no different for singer and cosplayer Debbie Lopez.

Turning 33 few days ago, the artist behind Visayan track "Ang Higugmaon Ka" steadily gaining traction is set to record a song penned by no less than Mon del Rosario.

The songwriter is behind classic OPM hits "Boy," "Tamis Ng Unang Halik," "Somewhere In My Past," among others.

Mon attended the recent birthday bash of Debbie during which the artist also revealed that she had undergone acting workshop with Ogie Diaz.

She recalled being asked by the famed online personality if she wants to enter show business. Back then, Debbie said she had not made up her mind but now the answer is a resounding yes.

Despite her plans to venture into other fields, Debbie intends to keep her Visayan radio show, and still accept offers to do cosplay.

At the party, Debbie treated her family and friends to a bit of cosplay by coming out dressed as Keqing of Genshin Impact.

The artist pointed out that while it looks fun, cosplaying requires a lot of time, research and money. She noted that some costumes cost hundreds of thousands of pesos.

We heard Debbie sing that night and we remember telling a colleague that her singing style and vocal timbre are suited for pop alternative songs such as those done by Kitchie Nadal, Barbie Almalbis and Acel Bisa.

Well, whatever genre she decides to try, we look forward to hearing more from and about Debbie. Happy birthday!
