SV SURGES! RPMD poll shows Sam Verzosa now in 'statistical deadlock' with rival in Manila mayoral race

A week before Election Day, the RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc (RPMD) posted on May 5 that there's a "statistical deadlock in Manila mayoral race."

The independent and non-commissioned poll puts Sam Verzosa at 43% versus Isko Moreno at 41%.

"The race for the top post in the City of Manila has turned into a high-stakes political showdown, as Congressman Sam Verzosa and former Mayor Isko Moreno are now statistically tied in the latest 'Boses ng Bayan' Election 2025 survey," the caption read.

The survey was conducted by RPMD in partnership with RPMD News Network Inc (RPMD News) from April 15, 2025 "through face-to-face interviews with 2,500 registered voters across Manila's six legislative districts."

RPMD pointed out that a remaining 3% of voters remain "undecided," so they could be a potentially decisive bloc in the tightly contested battle.

The polling institution accurately predicted the outcome of the 2019 Manila mayoralty race between then-candidates Isko Moreno and former President Joseph "Erap" Estrada.

Their latest post added: "The significant 5-point surge for Verzosa signals growing momentum and voter consolidation behind his candidacy. Verzosa...has positioned himself as the fresh alternative to traditional politics, appealing to younger voters and those yearning for innovation in local governance..."
