Dennis Trillo |
Why is macho guy Dennis Trillo proudly endorsing sunscreen under a product line called Belle Dolls?
"Ang balat natin iisa lang naman yan," he said. "So, kung inaalagaan ng mga babae ang skin nila, dapat ganun din ang lalaki."
The actor revealed that aside from applying sunscreen every two hours everyday and even indoors, he dunks his face in a bowl of ice most mornings, "borrows" his wife Jennylyn Mercado's serums (Beautederm, of course!) and does Gua Sha---a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves scraping your skin with a stone tool to improve circulation, reduce inflammation, sculpt the face and relieve pain.
The sunscreen that Dennis endorses is called Zero Filter Sunscreen. The actor says it comes in handy especially when he goes on motorbike rides; and during shoots when his face is exposed to harsh lights.

Beautederm CEO and President Rhea Tan |
Beautederm CEO and President Rhea Tan said girl or boy, it doesn't matter: Zero Filter Sunscreen will protect the skin from UV damage, prevent sun-related skin problems, moisturize the skin, reduce blemishes, and improve overall skin texture and tone.
She added it's about time more men take better care of themselves, which includes having a skin regimen.
Rhea noted that even today, many guys use the same soap for skin and body----something frowned upon by the, shall we say, discerning and enlightened lot.
"Skincare is part of self-care," said Dennis.
Soft spot
Rhea has always liked Jen and Dennis from the time they revealed themselves to her as being a down-to-earth couple.
"Noong intimate birthday ko last year, hindi ako umasa na sasama si Dennis when I invited him through Jen," she said to that effect. "At nauna na nga sila dumating sa venue, nahihiya pa silang nagpaalam umuwi ng madaling araw na. Mabait na magasawa."

Rhea Tan and Dennis Trillo |
When the business magnate supported Dennis' movie "Green Bones" that eventually won for him last year's Metro Manila Film Festival Best Actor plum, she was touched that while the cinemes in Angeles City are smaller than those in Manila, "dinayo ni Dennis, nageffort siya" to attend the blockscreening Rhea spearheaded for him in her hometown.
The ever-humble Dennis said it's the least he can do.
"Natutunan ko in all my years sa industry na dapat huwag kalimutan ang mga tunutulong sa yo," he said. "At laging magpapasalamat sa lahat ng biyaya.'
Loyalty above popularity
It wasn't just Dennis dispensing wisdom at the press conference.
Asked why she retains even her endorsers who have had their heyday when Beautederm already has most of the A-listers in its roster, Rhea said "hindi ganun ang buhay."
"Hindi lang yung sikat ka pero dapat loyal ka din," she said. "Ang kasikatan, nawawala yan. Ang pera, nawawala yan. Tandaan natin na sa totoong buhay, we need to value those na nakasama natin sa hirap at ginhawa---and they are our true friends, our family."
Rhea also believes one should "walk the talk" that's why she strives to always be the best version of herself as it reflects on her products, her businesses.
"Dahil nagpo-post ako minsan ng walang filter...ang itsura mo sa social media yun pa din sana ang makita nila sa totoo. Ika nga, no to false advertising," she joked. "Hindi lang yung mga endorsers, kundi ikaw mismo na owner..."
It makes sense. And there's a word for it.
Integrity.
