MB40 on what it takes to rise as a vocal group

Rdee, Rafael, Gelo and Kurt of vocal group MB40  said more than the auditions and training, the hardest part they underwent is "breaking the individual."

In an interview held at MUSIC BOX powered by  The Library Comedy Bar where they were launched over the weekend, the group said it was necessary so they could work as one.

Anyone who've seen the boys perform live would understand what they mean. Each has his own appeal and vocal strength that for everyone to push forward or hold back as necessary, need to be a conscious decision unless one eclipses the other.

What's the advantage of having just three or four members versus five or more?

"There's less room for selos at mas madali ang communication," they said. "Mas madali din magpatawag ng rehearsal at hindi kasinggulo kung mas maraming members."

While MB40 performed covers at the launch, they are set to release their first single penned no less than by Vehnee Saturno.

MB40 initially set out to have a 90s boyband-inspired sound (think A1 or Westlife). But as they go along, the boys realize they have so much more to offer so for now, sky's the limit as far as their signature sound goes.

"May kanya-kanya kaming lugar vocally so hindi kailangang may malimitahin ang kahit sino sa amin," they said.

The boys have been rehearsing dutifully and so hard for months on end and there was a point when a member even got hospitalized from sheer exhaustion!

To further hone their talents and strengthen their chemistry as a group, MB40 is slated to perform regularly at Music BOX in Quezon City and The Library in Las Pinas City.

"Kaya kami tinawag na MB40 kasi we were formed by and at Music Box on the iconic venue's 40th year in business," said the group.

This fact alone makes their confidence soar that they are in the right place and with the right people.

"Andami ng napasikat ng Music Box at The Library," MB40 said to that effect. "Hindi man namin alam ano exactly ang nakita nila sa amin para buohin as a group we're beyond confident they know what they're doing."
