While most everyone chooses to stay indoors these days to get away from the summer heat, Abby Viduya relishes hitting the streets and going from house to house early morning onwards, to get to know better the people of Paranaque she wishes to serve as councilor.

In an interview, Abby said that, of course, with her husband Jomari Yllana being three-termer councilor of the city, she has already done the rounds several times.

"Pero iba pag ikaw na mismo ang tumatakbo," she said. "I look at people and see them in another light---mas malalim---dahil alam kong ako na mismo ang magsisilbi sa kanila. I want to fully understand what they need so I know what more I can do for them."

Abby is also exposed to the rudiments of crafting city laws. People know this too that's why as early as 2022, Abby said they've been asking her to run for office after Jomari's term.

"May mga nagiisip na kinumbinsi ako ni Jom tumakbo pero ang totoo, ayaw nga niya ako tumakbo," Abby revealed. "Alam kasi niya ang pulitika sa pulitika kaya as much as possible, he wanted to shield me from that. Pero naging second nature na sa amin ang pagsilbihan ang tao so here I am now."

Abby is running under Team Bagong Paranaque with Edwin Olivarez as mayoralty candidate.

When Abby, now 47, gave up her showbiz career in the early 2000s to move back to Canada, she focused on self-improvement courses. She found work as an admin assistant, then later progressed as a leisure and entertainment director in a homecare facility.

Abby comes equipped with special credentials which she gained during her years of stay abroad. She is a holder of the following: Certificate in Accountancy, Certificate in Elder Care and Bachelor of Science in Office Administration

Both sides in Abby’s family tree comes from Paranaque. Both the Riveras and the Razons hail from the city, particularly in the Baclaran area.

Abby’s biological father is Rudy Rivera, formerly a popular radio disc jockey. The Razon family adopted her as a child.

Showbiz

No interview with Abby is complete without asking about her acting career.

While her focus is on serving Paranaque, doing movies is not entirely out of the picture. Her dream role in future projects is to play kontrabida.

It's a far cry from her most recent project, the street senakulo "Kalbaryo ni Kristo" where she was cast as the Virgin Mary.

Who are kontrabida actresses she admires?

"Cherie Gil and Ms. Celia Rodriguez," she said.

Asked if she's the confrontational type as most kontrabida characters are, Abby joked she could be especially when it comes to women who give Jomari the eye or try to flirt with him.

"I'm the type who'd say, 'Excuse me, could you, like, stay away from my husband?'" she sampled to us. "Haha, no, it (the scenario) never happened."

The last movie Abby did was "Batang West Side" way back 2001. The cast had award-winners Joel Torre, Yul Servo, Arthur Acuna, and others.

"Batang West Side" took almost all the awards in Gawad Urian in 2002.
