Freddie Webb laments state of PH politics

Freddie Webb of "Ang Himala ni Niño" says it like it is when talking about today's politics.

The actor has held many government posts, including senator in the '90s.

"Mahirap maghanap ng derecho, yung hindi magnanakaw, yung di gagawa ng kalokohan," he lamented.

Still, there is one he admires: the late senator Neptali Gonzales.

"Kailangang yuyuko ka para makapasok sa bahay niya," Freddie said. "It's very small at hanggang natapos siya sa pulitika, dun pa din siya nakatira."

Indeed, politics seems to draw people who are in it for the money instead of service, Freddie said. He believes, however, that public servants aren't entirely to blame for that.

"Sometimes it's the population that makes them bad because we keep on asking from them," Freddie pointed out.

He claimed that anyone running for senate must have at least 750 million pesos in his war chest or he should just "get out---you're not going to win!"

Freddie acknowledged that ultimately, it's a thankless job. "A politician, no matter what he does, is always wrong (in the eyes of the public)," he said.

At length, the actor quipped in general of his
opinions, "I may be wrong---or I may be right!"

Freddie plays Lolo Mars on "Ang Himala ni Niño." The series is down to its last two weeks.
