Miss Teen Global Philippines Joegy Marquez was brimming with excitement when we interviewed her right after her crowning and sash ceremony held at B Hotel in Alabang just a few days ago.
Handpicked by National Director Charlotte Dianco to represent the Philippines, Joegy could hardly believe it when the opportunity presented itself.
"Growing up, I liked princesses, fashion and modeling," she said. "On career days at school, I'd always choose to be firefighter or ballerina simply because I love the outfits!"
Fortuitously thrusted into the world of pageantry, she has the support of friends and family, especially her father, actor Joey Marquez.
"He was surprised because growing up, I was the quiet, reserved type," Joegy said. "But he's definitely supportive. His only reminder is that I finish school."
Still in high school, Joegy plans to take up in college a course related to the arts "maybe languages, poetry, media."
Joegy is off to Brazil in September out to win the crown. Her advocacy is animal welfare and she intends to showcase world-famous Pinoy hospitality when she presents herself in the contest.
