Although he has been dubbed Revival King for his marked versions of hits by other artists released before the pandemic, Jojo Mendrez has finally recorded an original song.
Titled "Nandito Lang Ako" written by Jonathan Manalo, the song is about being secretly in love with a friend. It will soon be distributed on streaming platforms worldwide under Star Music PH.
At a recent press conference, Jojo sang the song publicly for the first time and the press people in attendance were impressed with his singing talent.
While a millionaire many times over who can afford to produce and promote his songs, the singer has been validated no less than by Mon del Rosario. The ace songwriter revealed Jojo bested hundreds of auditionees before he was picked to do a remake of the songwriter's classic OPM hit "Somewhere In My Past."
Garnering an astonishing 45 million views to date across platforms, even celebrities as Maricel Soriano, Janice de Belen, Snooky Serna, Claudine Barretto, among others, gave honest reviews and positive reactions to Jojo's reading of the Julie Vega original.
Before the release of that song in 2024, Jojo had recorded versions of Jireh Lim's "Magkabilang Mundo;" Florante's "Sana" and "Handog;" and Apo Hiking Society's "Tuyo Ng Damdamin."
In 2018, Jojo held a sold-out concert at Newport Performing Arts Theater inside Resorts World Manila. His guest performers then were no less than Pilita Corrales and Nora Aunor.
