It's getting hotter in Manila---and not just because of summer.
A video uploaded Feb. 25 on Sam Verzosa's official Instagram account shows the Manila mayoralty bet refuting one of his rivals Isko Moreno's allegations that the "Dear SV" host was among those nowhere to be found during the pandemic.
The text superimposed on Sam's video read: "Cge lang siraan nyo kami, Kumpleto kami ng Resibo."
The edited video post starts off with Isko delivering a speech at a gathering.
"Nakisali naman yung isa---si pabida, si Superman---bumabaha ng bigas at delata," he said.
"Superman" is presumed to be Sam, also because of the mention of "bigas at delata." Note that Sam is known to give away relatively pricier rice and canned goods than usual to constituents of Manila who attend his political sorties and outreach projects.
Isko continued: "Simple lang ang tanong nating mga taga-Maynila: Nasaan kayo nung pandemya?"
The video then cuts to footage of Isko in another setting, thanking the international company Frontrow--- which happens to be co-owned by Sam.
"Thank you sa inyo, Frontrow," said Isko.
The next part of the video shows Sam saying in an interview that "lagpas 20,000 na po tayong sako ng bigas na naipamigay" and "nakapagbigay na po tayo sa city of Manila, sa Quezon City, sa Davao, sa city of Pasig..."
Footage of the mentioned donations being given out were shown.
A part of the montage also shows Isko together with and actually seated beside Sam in an inauguration ceremony, during which the former said publicly, "Sa mga taga-Frontrow, maraming, maraming salamat sa inyo..."
Everytime a video in the montage showed Isko trying to take a swipe at or alluding to Sam, another splice immediately follows that shows the latter invalidating the claim with documented words and/or actions.
It's clear how Sam feels about it as gleaned from the caption he wrote.
"Galit ako sa SINUNGALING, Abusado at MAGNNAKAW, kaya hindi ako papayag na ginaganito tayo."
Many of the comments side with Sam.
"Tapusin natin ang Kultura ng Pananakot at Korapsyon! Di namin kayo uurungan! Lalaban kami hanggang Dulo! Babaliktarin pa nila tayo, pero Alam ng mga kababayan natin ang totoo," said one user.
"Bakit kailangan siraan kung nakakatulong naman hayyy pinoy nga naman," said another.
Still another wrote short but sweet message that echoes Sam's battlecry from the start.
"Kailangan natin ng pagbabago sa Maynila."
