From 47 cinemas on day two of Metro Manila Film Festival 2024, "Green Bones" now has 69 cinemas nationwide and counting.
The movie continues to win the confidence of more theater owners much thanks to the buzz that it is top contender in key categories come Gabi ng Parangal on Dec. 27.
While "contented" with any number of theaters that would screen "Green Bones," lead actors Dennis Trillo and Ruru Madrid are, of course, happy with the development.
"Mas mabuti na yung konti kayo nagsimula tapos madagdagan, kesa sobrang dami ang simula tapos mababawasan," Dennis said in an interview at Cinema 76 Film Society.
The two said that from the start, they never thought about winning awards for their performance but just that they give it their all.
Ruru is grateful to have experienced working with what he calls the "dream team" that is "Green Bones."
"From the writer and director down to the producers and my co-actors, isang karangalan na kasama ako sa pelikula," said he who considers the movie to be "art film."
Ruru added he was particularly in awe of Dennis who shot "Green Bones" while also doing the series "Pulang Araw."
"Never ni Dennis pinaramdam na hirap ako, pagod ako (despite juggling projects)," Ruru said. "His level of commitment na maging maganda ang pag ganap niya at mapaganda ang pelikula namin ay 100 percent."
Dennis found his character challenging to play since he has relatively little dialogue especially in the first part of the movie.
He relied heavily on eye movements and gestures and "sineryoso namin ang voice-over" resulting in quiet but compelling performance.
Should they win awards, Dennis hopes it would create noise around "Green Bones" and promote it "para ma-curious ang tao to experience it."
"Kahit di umabot ng bilyon ang kita," he said. "What's important to us is for people to experience the movie---yes, watching 'Green Bones' is an experience."
