Kababaihan Party List first chair and former TV host Kate Coseteng advocates divorce with special considerations

FORMER TV host, Beautéderm brand ambassador, and incumbent Quezon City District 3 Councilor Kate Coseteng recently announced her support for the passing of divorce but with special considerations.

The young lawmaker, who is currently the first chair of Kababaihan Party List, candidly gave her views on the controversial subject of divorce which is a hot topic in Philippine politics & society today.

For Coseteng, it’s time for the Philippines to legalize divorce but with special considerations, focusing mainly on the plight of women who are experiencing domestic abuse in all its forms — encompassing physical, emotional, and mental abuse from their spouses.

“Women who are victims of chronic abuse should be given a second chance to life and love,” says Coseteng. “Years of absence and years of separation between married couples should also be major considerations in the legalization of divorce here in our country.”

Coseteng believes that a conversation about divorce is necessary in safegaurding women and issues relevant to them — which is one of the central thrusts of Kababaihan Party List.
