Carl Balita aims to foster discernment among voters via 'Plataporma'

Dr. Carl E. Balita was said to be one of the most qualified senatorial candidates in the last election.

And yet he lost.

"My journey then was both fulfilling and frustrating," he said in a recent interview. "I had the credentials, I was more than ready in any and all the debates, I was prepared for the job....in the end, I was both survivor and victim---and that gave me a lot ot insights." 

This is the reason he is doing the talk show "Plataporma with Dr. Carl E. Balita" where he asks questions that matter to candidates who sit as his guests.

Or if you want the long form: The show is an in-depth interview with the political aspirants this coming May 2025 elections which aims to inform the masses not just about the qualifications of the people who want their votes but also how the political system in the Philippine works.

"We will find out what's between their ears. Para malaman ng tao kung sino siya, at kung dapat ba siyang piliin to complement yung mga nasa posisyon na," he said.

The show will be taped as live meaning "what they say can't be edited." It's precisely why it's not on any "mainstream" outlet that might "edit yung ayaw marinig sa platform nila."

Carl won't give his questions to guests in advance but just a general idea of what the conversation is about "kaya dapat handa sila at alam talaga nila ang pinapasok nila."

"Hindi ko sila tatanungin kung sino ang crush nila or what they do on their rest days," Carl said. "Hindi tayo nagpapa-cute dito."

The educator and entrepreneur has a huge following on social media so he will harness that. He has also talked to people in the academe many of whom have agreed to stream the show on their respective platforms, aside from the main channels, namely the Manila Times app and DZME.

"That means ma-re-reach niya ang kabataan," Carl pointed out. "Kelangan magkaroon sila ng magandang dahilan para pumunta sa presinto at bumoto."

At this point, he had sent out  invitations to many of the candidates. Some have said yes....the others have yet to respond.

"Eto ba ang iboboto niyo? Alam ba niya ang mga tanong na dapat alam niya ang sagot? Yan ang malalaman sa show," he said. "O baka naman akala niya ang public service ay tungkol lang sa pagbigay ng ayuda?"
