Marah Tamondong on her plans for Manila

Marah Tamondong

Marah Tamondong believes what the city of Manila needs next is mayor with personal touch when it comes to serving them---and she could be the one.

In an interview, Marah said that while her contenders have more experience than her, a newbie, when it comes to politics, she doesn't see herself as the underdog in the 2025 elections; certainly not in a David-versus-Goliath way.

"Hindi ako takot na banggain sila," she said. "Sila ang pader na hindi matibay, hindi ako."

Marah pointed out that they could promise everything they want but anyone who'd really think about it would see that if they are really sincere with effecting change "dapat dati pa."

"Kasi nakaupo na sila sa pwesto, so dapat nagawa na nila," she pointed out to that effect.

Speaking of doing things with a personal touch, Marah proudly claims to have been on the ground in helping senior citizens of Manila. She said that long before the campaign season, to her they have always been top of mind.

This is the reason they are among key priorities in her platform. Should she win as mayor, Marah vows to increase their allowance from 500 php to 2000 php monthly; to send any ayuda due them straight to their homes; see to their health needs, particularly by making sure medicine is always available to them; and building recreational centers for their use.

She calls herself "super" Marah because she hopes and strives to have the qualities of a superhero "na totoong naglilingkod, nagmamahal at may malasakit." Through the years, she has headed so many outreach programs, given wheelchairs, burial assistance, financial help to students, etc.

Marah chides politicians who only do good for show.

"May issue man o wala, dapat tumutulong ka," she said. "Tama na pagpapanggap. Hindi yung kukunan ng video pag tulong mo pero pag wala ng camera, aalis."

Take note that any help Marah extends to the people comes from her own pocket.

"At 2022 pa lang, nagbibigay na ko," said the business woman who owns a real estate company.

Her dream for Manila? To be on the level of, say, New York City. Maybe not soon, but in time---and she would like to be part of the process, if not start it.

Marah is a resident of San Andres Bukid. She is running under Partido Federal ng Pilipinas of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos.
