'Hellboy: The Crooken Man' drops Sept. 11 in PH Cinemas

“Hellboy: The Crooked Man”, the fourth addition to the Hellboy franchise is coming to Philippine cinemas this September 11.  Directed by Brian Taylor (Crank, Crank: High Voltage, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance), the story is set in the late 1950s, within the Appalachian Region  where Hellboy will battle The Crooked Man and the various witches that he leads.

Hellboy, a demon raised by humans, making him gentle-natured and heroic, is played by Jack Kesy (Deadpool 2, Baywatch, Netflix feature The Killer). He works as an agent for the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense (BPRD), and his current assignment is to transport a magical spider to their lab for research purposes. He has two companions, one is a female rookie named Bobby Jo Song, played by Adeline Rudolph (Netflix series Resident Evil), a Hong Kong actress of German and Korean descent.

They’re aboard a train when the spider wakes up and attacks them, then escapes underground. In their attempt to catch it back, they end up in a town that has been infested by witches for quite some time. Here they meet key characters: Tom Ferrel, a man who possesses a lucky bone that can be used as magic; Cora Fisher, a witch who doesn’t want to obey The Crooked Man, but still feels indebted to him; Effie, the right-hand woman of The Crooked Man; and Tom’s father who has been transformed as a horse.

They all agree to get rid of The Crooked Man, but nothing can prepare them for their encounter with dangerous creatures and their enemy’s darkest powers.

The Crooked Man is played by Martin Massindale whose filmography includes On Chesil Beach, Holmes & Watson, and The Time of Their Lives.

“Hellboy: The Crooked Man” is written by the award-winning creator and artist Mike Mignola, who also serves as its executive producer. He was also a production designer on the Disney film ATLANTIS and visual consultant to director Guillermo del Toro on both Hellboy and Hellboy 2: The Golden Army films.

Catch it in cinemas nationwide today, September 11, 2024.
