Congressman Sam Verzosa celebrates his birthday today with one wish: To continue helping people as he has done these last 10 years.
And he is confident girlfriend Rhian Ramos will be there with him as she fully approves of his advocavy.
Sam said so in an interview in Pandacan yesterday when he took a short break from distributing rice, maintenance medicine and other basic needs.
The public servant and businessman, who is being primed for the next mayoralty race in Manila, revealed Rhian often joins him in outreach programs when she can.
Sam said Rhian believes in his cause especially as the money he uses to help others comes from his own pocket.
"Kaya kung kaya ko tumulong in my own way, mas kaya ng gobyerno kung gugustuhin dahil they have all the resources," Sam said to that effect.
Having gone around Manila many times over---from Tondo to Sta. Mesa, from Quiapo to Sta. Cruz--- Sam noted that people often ask help for financial assistance or services relating to medical needs, particularly hospitalization.
Sam is proud of his humble beginnings and uses his life story to inspire others. Aside from championing public health, he strives to give people the opportunity to start their own business "para mas pang-matagalan ang solusyon sa mga pangangailangan."
You wouldn't think Sam is just in his early 40s the way he looks at things. He said that should he run for mayor, his efforts to help people will be "tama, todo at tuloy-tuloy."
"Wala akong gagawin kundi kabutihan," he said. "Para sa ganun, hindi ako maliligaw."
