Message of 'Mamay' movie: Reach for your dreams

The red carpet premiere of "Mamay: A Journey to Greatness The Marcos Mamay Story" at SM Megamall recently was a successful event supported by fans, colleagues and celebrity friends of Nunungan Mayor Marcos Mamay.

In his speech at the premiere, Mamay expressed hope for the message of his biopic to resonate with viewers, especially those from marginalized sectors. 

"This is a very inspiring movie. I want people, especially those who belong to the marginalized sector, to know that there is always hope and opportunities to reach your dreams if you focus all your energies on it," he said. "Kailangan din na magsumikap ka para maabot ang anumang pangarap mo. This movie tells that poverty is not a hindrance to succeed in life." 

The premiere was also graced by the film’s lead actors, Jeric Raval and Ara Mina, as well as Teejay Marquez and Ron Angeles.

Ara , who portrays Mayor Mamay’s wife Cathy in the film, shared her admiration for the mayor’s life story. 

"I accepted this movie dahil inspirational talaga ang buhay ni Mayor Mamay. Nakita ko din nang personal ang napakagandang lugar ng Nunungan in Lanao del Norte nang dahil din sa efforts ni Mayor."

Jeric , who is Mamay in the film, is honored to have been chosen for the role. 

"I am honored na ako ang napili ni Mayor Mamay na gumanap bilang siya sa pelikulang ito. Humanga ako sa mga pinagdaanan ni Mayor. Truly inspiring," the actor said.

While the playdate of the movie in cinemas is being worked out, "Mamay" has a tie-up arrangement with the Department of Education for its screening in schools. Several block screenings of the movie are already scheduled.
