Kuh Ledesma |
Like most of us, Kuh Ledesma has her favorite singers including Whitney Houston, Barbra Streisand and Seal.
"A good singer understands what singing is all about including vocal placement and tone," she said at a recent press conference. "(As far as those go), I choose Whitney...I don't know if there's anyone who could surpass her. Natural yung kanya siguro kasi as a young girl ay she was already singing in church so na-hone talaga ang talent niya."
It's no surprise Barbra is in Kuh's list as the former is one of her biggest influences.
"Her tone is different, unique. When she belts (notes), she's not shouting but it's the dynamics necessary for the song...a good singer is someone who belts na hindi masakit sa tenga."
Seal was a "late" discovery for Kuh and he is the only male singer she mentioned.
"I like the arrangements of his songs, the lyrics," she said to that effect. "I love Seal kasi di siya mapanggap, (his style) it's uniquely his."
Any OPM artist she'd like to work with?
"KZ Tandingan," Kuh said without missing a beat. "She likes to put drama in her performance. I'd like to see what we can do together.
'Kuh Ledesma sings her A B C'
Just as there are the basic ABC’s to learn in school in order to educate ones self, there are also the ABC’s of Music that every amateur and professional musician, singer/performer and every serious music enthusiast should know and learn in order to fully appreciate what the Art of Music is really all about.
In the world of Music and Entertainment, the works of the great Musical masters are the ABC’s by which every budding performer should learn and be familiar with as these are “required songs to learn” in order to build a strong musical foundation.
Kuh with Nathan Randall, David Young and Vergel Sto. Domingo |
These ABC’s of music has introduced her to the musical works of the great masters of Music.
These same ABC’s she’ll be paying tribute to as she performs on August 3, 2024 (Saturday) at The Winford Hotel Manila in a special show aptly titled “KUH LEDESMA SINGS A B C."
But what are these ABC’s of Music?
In the Philippines, the A’s could mean the Music of Abelardo, Azarcon, Alcasid. The B’s could be a Buendia or a Blanco, and the C’s could be a Canseco, Cayabyab, Cruz, Celerio, Chan, Constantino, or Cuenco. Or it could be just anyone whose Musical Works have become standard repertoire in Filipino Pop Music like a Varela, Saturno, Tan, Del Rosario or a Valenciano.
In the field of International Music the A’scould be an Adele, Anita or Arianna . The B’s could be a Barbra (of course) Bacharach, or Bona and C could be Collins or Cher.
And the list can be an endless stream of history’s great singers or composers. That’s why when Kuh sings “ABC”, the songs to be featured in the show could be any song from A to C plus many many more. After all it’s the AB & C’s of Music.
These are the songs that starts off every singer’s career and what later sets them on their way to what they hope would be their fame and fortune.
It is a known fact that when Kuh sings, she truly feels each song, giving justice to every note and lyric.
She knows these songs inside and out, embodying the saying, “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.”
Her heartfelt performances resonate deeply, bringing each song to life.
"KUH LEDESMA SINGS A B C" concert promises to keep its audience in suspense as to what songs will actually be featured during the performance. Something the audience can look forward to on the concert..
Kuh's special guests for the show will be two new budding singers, NATHAN RANDALL and DAVID YOUNG. Show director is Vergel Sto. Domingo.
