The inception of ‘Maropok’ began serendipitously when Councilor Maro and his colleague, Councilor Paul Roman “Pao” Santiago, discovered their mutual love for music over a casual dinner. This led to an impromptu jamming session that soon became an annual musical tradition for their community. Inspired by the cohesive power of music and their shared creative impulses, the councilors were joined by another civic-minded musician, Chino David. Together, they embarked on a musical venture that underscores their belief in the transformative power of pursuing one's passions.
“Pursuing musical dreams does not detract from our commitment to public service; on the contrary, it enriches it,” says Councilor Maro. “Engaging in music has brought a refreshed enthusiasm and a new perspective to our roles as public servants.” This sentiment is a chorus echoed by his bandmates, who also acknowledge the positive ripple effects their musical engagement has had on their professional responsibilities.
Available on all major music platforms, through the production of Yellow Room Music, ‘Sensitibo’ marks ‘Maropok’s’ bold first step into the music scene. As the band has the same purpose, to serve their community, they also have the same passion that balances their purpose. From the simplest dinner gathering to releasing their first song in 5 months, “Hindi pa talaga huli ang lahat”.
As they continue to serve their community, the band remains committed to striking a chord that resonates with both their civic duties and musical dreams.
