Imelda Papin |
Tomorrow, June 10, is Imelda Papin's first day at work as one of five board members of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) and she will put on the table a program reminiscent of her hit "Isang Linggong Pag-ibig."
In a recent interview at Mesa in Quezon City, Imelda said her "Isang Linggong Serbisyo" proposal aims to be of service to the people even on weekends---"(as in) walang day off."
She was sworn into the position only last week though talks about her joining PCSO has been around as early as March 2024.
How did she get the post, we asked.
Well, Imelda said Philippine President Bongbong Marcos had asked her earlier where she wanted to serve. Imelda and the Marcoses have been friends for decades now, through thick and thin.
"PCSO was one of the agencies I mentioned. Basta pagsilbi sa bayan, ok sa kin."
Actually, some groups have offered to support Imelda's candidacy for a national position. But with PCSO here, Imelda said "pabayaan na muna akong mag-ikot at maiabot ang tulong sa mga tao."
Asked if she is "worried" or apprehensive or nervous over her new post, Imelda smiled.
"Hindi ako worried dahil forte ko ito," she said. "Bago pa ako naging pulitiko at kahit noong wala ako sa posisyon as vice governor, andun pa din ang pagtulong..."
Even with this new development in her career, Imelda said she will continue singing.
Imelda urges the public to play the lottery to support the government's charitable initiatives.
The PCSO is the principal government agency for raising and providing funds for health programs, medical assistance and services, and charities of national character.
The PCSO holds and conducts charity sweepstakes, races, and lotteries and engages in health and welfare-related investments, projects, and activities to provide for permanent and continuing sources of funds for its programs. It also undertakes other activities to enhance and expand such fund-generating operations as well as strengthen the agency’s fund-management capabilities.
The main products of the PCSO are the sweepstakes and the lottery games.
