WATCH: Jeri Violago shows 'old soul' side in 'Songs for Mama' concert

Jeri Violago

He may be a Zoomer but rising pop singer Jeri Violago of the hits "Di Ka Mag-iisa" and "Gusto Kita" sure knows how to please even Gen Xers and Boomers.

At the "Songs for Mama" concert of Marco Sison and Bo Cerrudo held at the Palms Country Club last May 16, Jeri held his own alongside the two seasoned performers in songs that became huge way before he was born.

The young stepped onstage with the swag and vocal chops of the pro that he is. His first number, a bebop version of "The Way You Look Tonight" immediately endeared him to the crowd, who were obviously surprised that he knew and pulled off the number as if there was nothing to it. But then again, in a previous interview, Jeri did say he listened to all kinds of music and that he's trained to do all kinds of music genres.

It was also admirable how totally at ease he was talking to Marco and Bo onstage. While Jeri was deferential to the stars of the show, he did not seem shy or out of place being with them. He was also dressed appropriately in cream-colored suit; enough for him to visually make his mark without outshining Marco and Bo.

Like his first number, Jeri did well in "Sway" done with Bo and Marco. The upbeat number of the Latin pop bolero marimba style required Jeri to show off his moves, which set the tone for the ballroom dancing portion that was the second half of the concert. "Sway" may be in the Michael Buble vein of croon but Jeri's youthfully lithe voice proved it can work another way too.

In the end, Jeri successfully introduced himself to an age group far from his own. In an industry where versatility is key to longevity, this guy can only go up.
