WATCH: Yummy donut brulee offered in Philippines only at Barbs

It's only been two weeks since we first tasted donut brulee at Barbs yet craving is real!

Actually, we've been waiting for donut brulee to arrive in Manila after having tried it in Japan so many years ago. At last, it's here in the Philippines and only at Barbs that recently opened another branch in University Belt in Recto corner Lepanto after the one at Atria Mall in Iloilo.

What's donut brulee? Well, it's filled donut with sugar on top that is caramelized by getting torched right before it's served (or right before your eyes, if you want to be dramatic about it)! So it's crunchy when you bite into it then mid-way through oozes the creaminess in so many delicious variants (blueberry, strawberry and yema are our favorites!).

What's even more amazing is that one donut is pegged at just P68. Definitely a steal! Plus, you can buy it in boxes to bring home as pasalubong to loved ones or during that road trip or simply to satiate craving that follows you anywhere and everywhere.

We were told that Barbs delivers even long-distance so there's no reason why you can't try it today.

But there's more to Barbs than their unique donuts. It's actually combination bakeshop, cafe and restaurant with classy, cozy ambience and very reasonably priced food. While there, we also tried their pansit batchoy overload, arroz ala cubana, pares flakes, boneless barbecued chicken (to rival that of Aristocrat's), namit fried chicken ( a cross between Chicken Joy and Uncle John chicken plus plus) and some other milk tea, coffee frappe and non-coffee drinks. Yes, diet goes out the window when you're at Barbs!

Nga pala, if you want to horde on their bread items, you have to go there early in the day. People are fast discovering Barbs that the bread and pastries are almost always sold out by sunset.

Ah, but it's the donut that lingers in the mind. Must-have-it-now!
