"It's priceless."

This is how Spencer Reyes of dance group Streetboys describes the prospect of returning to the Philippines for "The Sign '90s Supershow: A Benefit Concert."

In a Zoom interview, Spencer said he did not have second thoughts accepting the offer despite that he would have to fly overseas from London where he has been based for nearly two decades now. It was revealed that after working as a nurse abroad for several years, he is now a bus driver for one of the biggest bus companies in U.K.

"Mas maganda kasi ang (work) benefits," he explained. "At dito, hindi ka pwedeng mag-apply as driver directly dahil kailangan 'skilled' worker ka kaya nakatulong sa akin ang nag nurse muna."

Spencer started dancing at age 14. He recalled his struggling years as dancer trying to make it; the times he would have to "hustle" just to put up five pesos for jeepney fare so he could attend dance auditions. His big break came when he joined Streetboys that would later be lauded for further popularizing foreign hit songs by dancing to them.

Happening at Aliw Theater on April 19, "The Sign '90s Supershow: A Benefit Concert"will be a night of nostalgia and memorable dance craze of popular '90s dance groups including members of Streetboys, Streetboys Junior (Fritz, Gian, Paulo and Neil), The Manoeuvers (Joshua Zamora, Rene Sagaran, Jonjon Supan, Red, Jhon Cruz), Universal Motion Dancers (Marco Mckinley, Norman Santos), Kids at Work (headed by Jayjay del Rosario), and Power x People (headed by Isaac Generoso).

Joining the main groups with performances are Bigmen, Abztract, Dyna Turbo, Teensquad, katz22, Black &White, Mastermind Blain, Wildcat Queens and more.

The other members of Streetboys that will perform at the show are Maynard Marcellano, Danilo Barrios, Christo Cruz, Nicko Manalo, Joey Andres and Michael Sesmundo.

Spencer added that he likes it the concert is for the benefit of young dancers likely to continue the dance fever alive in the Philippines.

“Hindi lang ito basta sayawan, kundi pagdiriwang ito ng musika, sayaw, at kultura ng Dekada Nobenta.

Ang gabing ito ay ‘di lang isang pagtatanghal, ito ay isang MISYON upang magbigay ng inspirasyon sa paghubog ng kinabukasan ng kabataang Pilipino sa pamamagitan ng sining, sayaw at musika. Layunin ng grupo na magbigay daan at suporta sa bagong henerasyon ng dancers,” says the executive producer of the show, Opalyn Amistoso of Wild Cat Queen Productions.
