That song on 'Showtime'

If you get around to thinking where you heard Jeri Violago's song "Gusto Kita" but just can't put a finger on it, well, it could be on "It's Showtime."

The song is currently being used as bed music in a segment of the popular show. It may not be a big deal to some as they argue it's "just in the background" but think about it: The sizeable audience of the show and the constant repetition spell maximum exposure likely to make "Gusto Kita" a Last Song Syndrome (LSS) hit.

Having worked for and with record labels for years, I know for a fact that it's one product placement any artist and his marketing team would kill for, Because if the whole point is to popularize a song until people recognize its beauty/merits, then how do you beat the exposure afforded by being bed music on a show such as "Showtime"---watched by millions around the world? It's almost like hitting the jackpot from a marketing perspective.

Then again, that's not the only thing going for Jeri's song. The breezy love song penned by Vehnee Saturno enjoys heavy rotation on WishFM 107.5, Energy 106.7, Star FM and WinFM 91.5. It's also played in radio stations across Visayas and Mindanao. Congrats, Jeri!

The song is on various streaming platforms under ABS-CBN's Tarsier Records. At a grand press conference held early this week at Silver Lotus, Jeri revealed he has several songs from his vault of compositions so surely we'll be hearing from and about this guy in months, hopefully even years to come.

By the way, Jeri can sing live, no autotune needed. He proved this not only at the press conference but in shows he had performed as guest singer. Two of the most recent ones were in Nonoy Zuniga's show at The Palacios in Laguna; and at Bo Cerrudo's 35th anniversary concert at Teatrino.

Jeri credits his family and friends, especially his mother, Chiqui Violago, for all his success. According to the singer, Chiqui is his inspiration!
