Romnick Sarmenta and Harlene Bautista were the picture of proud parents getting a tad emotional at the 18th debut party of daughter Bo Bautista held at Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila last Nov. 30.

The theme of the party was inspired by the movie "Avatar," hence, the fantastic display of vibrant colors and lush foliage inside the Luzon ballroom.

Bo's first dance was with Romnick who got teary-eyed looking at her daughter, all grown-up now and so beautiful. When he gave a speech enumerating Bo's sparkling qualities, he joked that he knew Bo was giving her the look as if to say, "Don't say anything to make me cry, dad!" Ah, Bo, if you only knew it was your father quietly wearing heart on sleeves the whole night...

Ditto with Harlene who granted the media an interview. She said there were times leading to Bo's daughter debut when she would stop with realization hitting her on the face how time has flown. While proud to see Bo reach this milestone in life, the former actress said she can't help but turn wistful when she remembers that  not too long ago, her daughter was just a little girl.

The party was attended by Bo's family and friends, including those also in show business. Among the celebrities we saw there were Eric Quizon, Joaquin Domagoso, John Gabriel and Jillian Ward.

A friend remarked that she loved the simple elegance of Bo's lilac gown almost in metallic hue. Tall, slender and with a small face, the camera loves Bo that's why it was easy for her to enter show business. She is currently a talent under the Net25 Star Center.

Asked if they will now allow Bo to accept suitors, Harlene said that it's up to her daughter when it comes to matters of the heart. She just constantly reminds her to choose a good man who will take care and love her as she deserves.
