Nina returns to the concert scene in 'Only Nina'

The Philippines' lone female Diamond Record awardee Nina is back to reassert her claim to the soul siren crown with a concert at Samsung Hall, SM Aura on Nov. 8.

The last time she held a concert was in 2021, online. As for one with a live audience, it was years before the pandemic.

Dubbed "Only Nina," and directed by John Prats, the repertoire consists of her hits "Jealous," "A Girl Can Dream" and "Someday;" as well as her well-loved covers of "Love Moves In Mysterious Ways," "Through The Fire," "Don't Wanna Be Your Friend," and so many more.

We asked Nina if she can and will still do "the whistle," a vocal technique made famous in pop by Mariah Carey. We remember hearing her do it in a recent recording but we weren't sure if she still does it live.

According to the siren, she still has it in her. "And if the song calls for it, why not?" she quipped.

Having been in the industry for more than two decades now, Nina knows her niche. That is why she is sticking to her "core" in "Only Nina" so expect her to be in top form and a crowd-pleaser.

Produced by Veragroup with District One Gastrolounge, "Only Nina" is presented by Essentials and Heavenly Desserts. With musical direction of Bobby Velasco, tickets to the show are on smtickets.com and at District One, BGC.
