Writer and director Gabby Ramos could hardly contain excitement over upcoming movie "Magic Hurts" to be shot almost entirely in Atok, Benguet as it will be the first Pinoy flick to "fully showcase" the place's beauty in partnership with the local government.

Just 47 kilometers north of Baguio, the small town in Benguet is known for its flower farms and breathtaking scenery. Gabby said that this is perfect since he wants a movie with an "international" look and feel; one that would have viewers saying it might as well have been in shot in Korea or in Thailand or in any part of the world for that matter.

Quick research online shows that some of the tourist spots in Atok are Mt. Timbak, Sakura Park, Osukan Spanish Trail, Lubo Lake and Apo Anno Cave.

Gabby also revealed at a press conference held recently at Relish Restaurant in Quezon City that they are this close to getting David Pomeranz's nod for "Got To Believe In Magic" to be used as the movie's official theme song. Recall that Filipino fans grew to love the song even more when it was used in the Rico Yan and Claudine Barretto movie of the same title a couple of decades back.

'Magic Hurts' cast

An independently-produced romcom flick, "Magic Hurts" stars Beaver Magtalas as Ernest and Mutya Orquia as Olivia; also Maxine Trinidad as Trixie. We asked Beaver and Mutya if it's possible for them to fall for each other but while they said it could happen, for now they are no more, no less good friends. This bodes well for the movie since the story needs main actors to have chemistry of which the two already have.

"Magic Hurts" is about Ernest, a young man determined to mend his parents' failing marriage. He finds himself in Benguet preparing for their arrival along with his childhood sweetheart, Trixie. Meanwhile, Olivia, a beautiful girl with a tragic past, works in a flower farm owned by her stepfather, Anton. When Ernest's parents and Trixie arrive in Benguet, they became unaware of the secret arranged marriage plans. Hurt by the revelation, Olivia distances herself from Ernest. However, Ernest discovers that Trixie shares his sentiments, leading him to search for Olivia's long-lost father. Eventually, Olivia and her father reunite, and she learns about the efforts of Ernest.

Also in the cast are Dennis Padilla, Ricardo Cepeda, Angelica Jones, Archie Adamos, Panteen Palanca, Whitney Tyson, Blumark Roces, Aileen Papin, Quia Barretto, Dennah Bautista, Cassie Kim and with special participation of Claudine Barretto.

The movie is expected to bolster even more the career of Beaver, who happens to be one of the nicest and most talented young actors around. It's his first starring role and he can hardly wait to showcase what he's got and win the hearts of Pinoy romcom fans even abroad. See, Gabby said that they are eyeing to have "Magic Hurts" on a popular movie streaming platform. Good luck guys!
