Piolo Pascual reveals reasons for 'doing it all' nowadays, including his first horror movie 'Mallari'

Remember few years ago when Piolo Pascual announced he's done with soap operas, actually almost short of saying he wanted to slow down career-wise?
The singer-actor certainly does with sort of embarassed smile. At the press conference of "Mallari"---Piolo's first horror movie, would you believe it?----he admitted that feeling so bored while waiting for the pandemic to blow over, made him realize how much he loves work after all, and that there's so much more he wants to do.
So, yeah, there's this horror movie under Mentorque Productions intended for submission to MMFF 2023. Last week, he concluded playing lead in the musical production "Ibarra," his return to theater. The coming months will see the heartthrob hold concerts and even produce the next album of son, Inigo.
Like a god, Piolo is every man, everywhere.
He initially said "no" to "Mallari" though. But certain things that happened Piolo took as signs that he must take on the title role.
Well, it's role quite challenging even for someone as experienced as Piolo. The story about the first Pinoy serial killer who happens to be a priest, cuts across three periods in Philippine history, whew.
Sounds ready-made for an award, right? While Piolo appreciates acting recognitions, he said to be at a point when he is no longer pressured to deliver critically and commercially. It's not to say Piolo won't give it his all---he will as he has always done; rather, it's just him focusing on every job he takes on without thinking of "results."
Make no mistake about it: "Mallari" will be done in a way that usually makes the box-office sing. Director Derick Cabrido said they want to help bring Pinoys back to the cinemas with Filipino movies worth their time and money. He looks forward to working with Piolo, revealing the the actor was lone choice for the part.
Mentorque producer John Bryan Diamante promised "Mallari" will be big, not only in terms of budget but as far as vision and ambition go. He pointed out that while essentially of the horror genre, "Mallari" is also "cultural" in that it's a period movie. He added that they want Pinoy moviegoers to leave cinemas feeling "proud" of their own movies and actors.
