Emilio Aguinaldo's great-granddaughter Lizzie releases debut song 'Baka Pwede Na'

Lizzie Aguinaldo: 'Everything happening to me right now is overwhelming.'

Imagine how it is being descendant of a Philippine hero. Well, can you?

Lizzie Aguinaldo doesn't have to think twice about it as she is, in fact, one of them.

Still, at the press conference of the release of her debut song under Star Music titled "Baka Pwede Na," she not only remained humble about being great great granddaughter of Emilio Aguinaldo, but she almost downplays it. The 15-year-old looker said she does not notice people giving her special treatment and, besides, she was brought up with feet firmly on the ground.

Her face brightens up when conversation centered on her Joven Tan-penned song. While she is into K-pop and upbeat songs like those of Dua Lipa, they wanted "Baka Pwede Na" to have classic OPM sound so people her age would also have interest in such songs.

"It's the song that I hope people would jam with whenever may mood po sila na kinikilig or moment po na naaalala po yung crush po nila, especially po sa generation ko," she was quoted to have said in a press statement. "It's just such a nice song; so simple yet it sets the whole vibe."

The first time Tan laid eyes on Lizzie, he knew there's a future singing star in her.

"Malawak ang range niya at in due time, mas ma-develop," said the award-winning composer and filmmaker. "Nang i-recommend siya sa kin, I said yes agad."

This early, Lizzie is getting the royal treatment not for her last name, but for her promising talent, Her launch was held at Luxent Hotel no less, and attended by top executives of Star Music who officially welcomed her to the label.

Lizzie knew even at eight years old that she wanted to sing, and perhaps, even venture into acting one day.

"It's been my dream to do both," she said. "That's why when I pursue Architecture course in college, I would still want to sing."

The singer felt "surreal" recording "Baka Pwede Na."

"It was very unbelievable for me," she said. "Everything happening to me right now is ovewhelming. I'm super thankful, super happy for this opportunity."

"Baka Pwede Na"  is available for download and listening in different online music apps. It's also being played by select radio stations, while its music video already premiered online.
