Boss Toyo reacts to Toni Fowler's 'MPL'

Boss Toyo

Boss Toyo (real name Jayson Luzadas) doesn't condemn Toni Fowler for putting out "MPL" that, like many of her previous releases, contains explicit lyrics.

In an interview with Rider PH Studios at the launch of his song "Rap Lord" under Blvck Entertainment, the social media content creator-turned-recording artist said Toni, who happens to be his friend, is careful enough to put an age advisory on everything she does so that audiences would be guided accordingly.

Toyo added that strong lyrics do not raise eyebrow at all in many countries and that it's only in conservative countries as the Philippines that people make a fuss out of it. The singer-songwriter relates to Toni as he, himself, courted controversy few years ago with his song "kainpepe."

It's a thing of the past. From hereon, Toyo wants to radiate positivity as reflected in songs with message that he hopes would inspire people. A fine example of this is "Rap Lord," written by Engr. Louie Cristobal and Romel Afable, which Toyo said is a "flex" number.

Without batting an eyelash, Toyo said he "believes in myself" and that everything he does is calculated risk in securing brighter future. Another example is his online show "Pinoy Pawn Stars," which gives value not only to possessions artists have acquired through hard work, but also to recognize the artist themselves who have carved a  name in the industry. Some of the most noteworthy memorabilia he has bought which he hopes would appreciate handsomely in the future are bato ni Darna; clothes worn by Francis Magalona, Gloc-9 in a music video; and a car used in movie "Maid in Malacanang."

"It's a salute to pop culture," Toyo said. "I'm investing for my kids. One day, tataas value ng mga ito at mga anak ko ang makikinabang sa mga yan."

Part of Boss Toyo's advocacy is "Sugod Bahay" program where he visits different barangays and gives people entertainment and surprises. He is also producer of Geng Geng Network, a direct to Facebook channel. An entrepreneur at heart, the hip-hop artist is founder of clothing line called Toyo Wear.

Boss Toyo's "Rap Lord" has music video directed by Edrex Sanchez. The song is available online.

The media launch was made possible by Alkaviva Waters Philippines, Grace Electronics Philippines, GLC Infinite Waters International, Blue Green Dragon Marketing, LG Realty Development, Cafe Gracia and Blvck Creatives Studio.
