SBTown’s newest boy group PLUUS has own style, sound

Members of media that attended the PLUUS debut launch at Circuit Makati few days ago were all for the stand of the group when it comes to their music and choreography.

Asked by Rider PH during the Q&A portion how different they are from other Ppop groups, their mentor and manager, Geong Seong Han (a.k.a. Tatang Robin) of SBTown, said he always reminds the boys to not copy anyone or any trend or music subgenre, including K-pop.

It's good advice considering PLUUS comes at a time when Ppop rules the local scene. To even be faintly similar to any of those who have gone ahead of them, could be detrimental to their career as they would be accused of "piggybacking."

Fortunately, there's nothing to worry about. Experiencing PLUUS in their first ever three-in-one showcase dubbed "PLUUS +ime is Now" prove they have taken Tatang Robin's and Adie Hong's (the South Korean trainer of SBTalent Camp) reminder to heart. The six-member boy group under SBTown is co-managed by Kathleen Dy-Go under record label Universal Records.

The name of the group came from the combination of the words “PLUS” and “US” which means that PLUUS (pronounced as “plus”) and their fandom are together in this journey from the start.

During the media conference, we learned that PLUUS played an important part in the process of producing the debut album "PLUUS +.Y.M" in that they collectively wrote the songs and choreographed the dance. The music videos of the three songs off that album---"Amigo," "My Time" and "Cross My Heart"---were premiered at the showcase ahead of its release on their YouTube channel. A bonus performance of a full English R&B song was rendered. Performances, contents, and activities including their nationwide concert together with their sister group YGIG, were bared.

Prior the event, PLUUS was able to release or call for pre-orders for a physical mini-album compared to other groups.

Before debuting, PLUUS went through four years of extensive training and hardships. Admittedly, the boys said the path to reaching this much was not easy. But with each other by their sides and the solid friendship they have made, their dream seems a lot more reachable for them. And these dreams are just not for themselves; it is also for the people who are with them along the way, and the people who support them.

PLUUS members are JL dubbed The Nation's Giant Center; Haro (Soul Captivator); Yen (The Masterpiece); Justin (The Silent Killer); Gab (The Ace Face) and Theo (The Big Brother).
