'Maid in Malacañang' opens Aug.3 in theaters nationwide, then worldwide screenings

The cast and crew of "Maid in Malacanang" came in full force at SM The Block recently for the red carpet celebrity screening of the most talked about movie of the year from Viva Films.

Among the attendees were Ruffa Gutierrez, Cesar Montano, Diego Loyzaga, Cristine Reyes, Kiko Estrada, Ella Cruz, Karla Estrada, Elizabeth Oropesa, Beverly Salviejo, and "Maid in Malacanang" director Darryl Yap; as well as Senator Imee Marcos and Viva big bosses Vic and Vincent del Rosario.

Those behind the movie opted to donated the budget for the catering worth P500,000 to the people of Ilocandia and Abra who were greatly affected by the recent major earthquake.

“We hope viewers will understand the simple opening night of our film. Enough for me and my family to show our side of the story and history. It is more important now that we help our countrymen affected by the earthquake," part of Senator Imee Marcos' statement reads.

"'Maid in Malacañang" opens today, Aug.3, in theaters nationwide, to be followed by worldwide screenings. The dramedy chronicles the last few hours of the Marcoses in Malacanang that fateful day in 1986. as seen through the eyes of their helpers.
