(ABOUT THE ARTIST)
Eric Ejercito is a man of many interests.
He’s an actor, director, dancer and an Animé Hypebeast (just ask him about this last one).
This particular season though, he’s going to be Eric Ejercito – music artist.
Those who know their local Pinoy pop scene would recognize Ejercito--who previously operated as Eric E.--the solo music act who wrote, performed and produced “Fearless” back in 2018 and whose music video mixed cinematic story telling with a tightly choreographed dance performance.
Oh yeah, he’s not just any dancer, he leads his own dance crew by the way. That’s how deep he’s into music and performance.
“I love Pop music in general, may it be western pop, K-pop groups or solo artists,” Eric said. He might’ve also stumbled onto K-pop when early on he was told that his “style and the way I look resembles the ‘Korean’ aesthetic” that prompted him to research the music genre & dove into it more and has since, in his own words, been “bitten by the (K-pop) bug.”
Eric also added that, “before I dove into pop, I had a band throughout high school and college. I have a dance crew as well where we competed international. Through the years, it hit me to combine both.”
And it’s with that realization that he came to find himself in the type of music he’s currently in now, adding that his sound is made up of “a lot of inspiration of many combined.”
Apparently, this is where Eric thrives. In mixing his interests. In taking one thing and combining it with another.
Enter his new single, the energetic and electro-tinged dance single titled “Fool.” Here, listeners can expect the same (if not more) of the same kind of exuberance that he’s put into his interests. The new track—about being made a fool of in the name of love--also puts on display, Eric’s love for K-styled pop (essentially P-pop) and dance. And yes, Eric is co-directing the music video (with L.A. based director Jeff Centauri) that’s going see daylight soon.
The new song is practically, “a collation of every single thing I love doing, producing, film making, dancing, singing, art design, performing. All of these things are a work of art and I’m merging them into a masterpiece.”
That is why Eric keeps coming up with these great sounding songs.
“My style is a representation of myself I must say, Also I’m a solo act. I’m not in a group like most here so as far as comparison, Surely, it’s fresh for the Ppop scene, I’m just being me.”
Ultimately, Eric Ejercito’s desire goes beyond the dance numbers he dishes out.
“I want to be known as an overall versatile artist. The guy who can literally make it happen from the very first step, up to this moment. I am managing to give it my all every single day. Don’t get me wrong, it’s really tough producing and performing simultaneously and all but I’m just grateful for the people I’ve worked with and helped me along the way and we were able to come up with this fantastic project that I’m truly proud of.”
