Expect the unexpected in GMA News and Public Affairs’ new podcast 'Surprise Guest with Pia Arcangel'

We see her on television delivering the hottest news, asking tough questions, and moderating debates. Now, award-winning broadcast journalist Pia Arcangel takes us to the world of podcasts but with a twist—here she talks to personalities without knowing who her guest will be beforehand!

Dubbed “Surprise Guest with Pia Arcangel,” the latest podcast produced by GMA News and Public Affairs Digital brings listeners some of the most interesting stories that remind us that life is indeed full of surprises and possibilities. With Pia learning about the identity of her guest or guests only on the day of the episode's recording, expect a more spontaneous flow of interviews for each episode.

Pia says she looks forward to sharing that ‘element of surprise’ with the listeners.

“It would be great for listeners to learn new things about each ‘Surprise Guest’ [episode] along with us—and for them to “ooh” and “ahh,” or simply laugh along as we go about each episode,” she says.

Imagine it as eavesdropping but with the people conversing giving you all the consent to listen. “We would love for each listener to feel as if they’re just listening to two people having a fun conversation in a coffee shop,” she adds.

From sportscasting to docu hosting and news anchoring, Pia is one of this generation’s most esteemed broadcast journalists. On top of her experience in talking to people from all walks of life, her flexibility and pleasing personality make her the perfect host for the podcast.

The Kapuso news and public affairs personality believes that podcasts are one of the convenient ways to make oneself not just informed and entertained but inspired as well.

 “People are so busy these days, always multitasking and doing a million things at a time. I think podcasts are important because they provide information, insight, and entertainment on-demand, while still allowing people to go about doing their daily activities,” shares Pia. “The beauty of podcasts is that they’re something to be appreciated whether you’re out doing errands, driving on the road, in the middle of an intense workout, or simply relaxing at home.”

Podcast enthusiasts would know that Pia has been a guest host for fellow Kapuso broadcast journalist Howie Severino's podcast show–something she says she really enjoyed doing.

“Pinch-hitting for Howie was a lot of fun! It was also a big deal for me because I’ve been a fan of his podcast since Day 1.
