Senatoriable and former Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista welcomes the IATF decision to allow the reopening of local cinemas after months of closure amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Herbert is more popularly known as "Bistek" in show business; the name of the character he played on the iconic soap opera "Flor de Luna." Indeed, he first made a name for himself as actor/comedian before throwing his hat into and making an indelible mark in public service.
He is such an industry stalwart that seeing movie workers lose their jobs from cinema closure at the height of the pandemic broke his heart. Herbert now urges the public to support local productions that braved protocol restraints to provide them entertainment.
His sights are trained on public support for movies that make up this year's Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) line-up. This includes Heaven's Best Entertainment Productions' "Huling Ulan sa Tag-araw" starring Ken Chan and Rita Daniela; a seminarian and entertainer in the movie whose lives take a sudden turn when fate leads them into an unexpected romance.
Herbert will certainly look after the movie industry and its workers once elected to the Senate in the 2022 polls. He is also poised to push for bills and programs to benefit local products, i.e. food, fabric, etc.---that would boost and strengthen national pride.
At onset of the "new normal" campaign season, Senatoriable Herbert will put together interesting vlogs featuring the best albeit oft-neglected aspects of Pinoy culture and everyday life for the infotainment of not just Boomers and Gen Z's, but the Alpha generation as well.
