| Sam Verzosa at 'Driven to Heal' charity event |
Ever true to his words, Congressman Sam Verzosa has put on the bidding table 10 of his luxury cars with proceeds meant for putting up dialysis and diagnostic centers in parts of Manila, including Sampaloc, Sta. Ana, Pandacan, Quiapo, Tondo and Intramuros.
As of Sunday, Sept. 29, Sam said he hopes to raise more than 200 million pesos off cars ranging from Rolls Royce, Bentley, McLaren, Maserati, Audi, Ferrari to Lamborghini, BMW and Mercedes Benz.
Sam first promised to hold the auction in a TV interview. Since then he has repeatedly mentioned it publicly in order to hold himself accountable to his words, and as indication of sincerity to help others.
Even before this, Sam had already built a bone marrow transplant facility. He also has several roving pharmacies that give away free medicine, particularly maintenance drugs.
A self-made man, the Tutok To Win Party-List Representative and "Dear SV" public service tv host got into business at age 21. The following year, he was able to buy his first BMW. Sam is CEO and co-owner of Frontrow with business partner RS Francisco.
In an interview during the "Driven to Heal" charity event held at Frontrow Headquarters in Quezon City, the congressman said he has been blessed way beyond his wildest dreams so he delights in paying it forward. He has been doing just that even before holding public office and so this is all just continuation of the magnanimity, the philanthropy.
Sam will join the mayoralty race in Manila in the coming elections. His girlfriend, actress Rhian Ramos, has been joining Sam in his outreach activities for some time now
whenever her schedule allows it.
In a previous interview, Sam said he has no running mate.
"Wala akong vice mayor. Meron o wala, ang kailangan ko ay ang tao....marami na ang lumapit pero wala akong vice (mayor) pero tingnan natin..."
