The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has rated (6) films set to hit the big screen, showcasing a blend of local and international cinematic creations.
“Maple Leaf Dreams,” a local drama dealing with love and ambition, and starring Kira Balinger and LA Santos, earned a PG rating from MTRCB Board Members (BMs) Katrina Angela Ebarle, Racquel Maria Cruz, and Glenn Patricio.
“Bad Genius,” a suspense thriller from Pioneer Films that has drawn international attention for its sharp plot and moral dilemmas, was rated PG by BMs Wilma Galvante, Fernando Prieto and Jerry Talavera. It’s a film for parents wanting their older children to more complex storytelling while still ensuring responsible viewing.
PG (Parental Guidance) is for below 13 years old viewers to be accompanied by their parents or supervising adults.
The science-fiction "Megalopolis" and the action-packed Asian movies “Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In” and “I, The Executioner” are rated R-16, catering to older teens and adults looking for content that resonates with their interests without compromising viewer protection.
Thailand's “The Paradise of Thorns,” about love, acceptance, LGBT rights and recognition, also got an R-16 from BMs Cruz, Cesar Pareja, and Richard Reynoso. Restricted-16 (R-16) means only 16 years old and above are allowed to watch.
Chairperson Lala Sotto-Antonio encourages families to view the films, saying: "They offer something for every type of viewer, from heart-warming local stories to exhilarating global blockbusters. Our goal at MTRCB is to empower audiences to make informed decisions for themselves and their families."
