A former employee revels in the freedom he now enjoys by striking out on his own to open production house BLKSHPMNL Studios, along with already existing independent record label Blacksheep Records Manila.

At a press conference held at BLKSHPMNL Studios on Unit 2A, Alpha Square Building in 138 Sandoval Avenue, Pinagbuhatan, Pasig, managing director Jaworski Garcia proudly highlighted what the studio offers. Measuring 180 square meters, well-designed and fully equipped, they have more than 10 specially d

"We want to help the community where I worked before, music, advertising and entertainment," he was quoted to have said in a press statement. "Our location is accessible, our rates are competitive, the space is big compared to others---and we have ample space for parking."

Jaworski is better knows as Papa J or Boss J in the local entertainment industry. He used to work for Viva Communications, Inc. and Warner Music Philippines.

Some of the talents under his Blacksheep Records Manila are Ethan Loukas Music and Section Juan.

"I decided na mag-indie para di makipagsabayan sa mga malalaking record labels," he said to that effect. "But instead of competing sa mga dati kong employers, I see them as my inspiration---particularly Boss Vice del Rosario. I want to be like him!"

If before, Jaworski would consult Vic for all of his projects, now the former calls all the shots.

"When I was able to save enough amount of money, I went independent so I could help other artists. Dream ko ito na na fulfill ko."

Ethan was beside Jaworski during the interview and the latter talked about the former like the proud "father" that he is of his talents.

"The moment I heard his demos years ago, I fell in love. Sabi ko, meron pala tayong Pinoy na world-class ang boses...."

It also doesn't hurt that to Papa J, the acoustic singer has a resemblance to heartthrob Piolo Pascual.

"Konting linis lang," Jaworski quipped.

As for Section Juan, the managing director described the vocalist's pipes as "kargado" as in "pwedemg ilaban sa boses ng mga may malalaki ng pangalan." Jaworski also lauded the other members,  particulary the band's songwriter.

Ethan Loukas Music will soon release a remake of Jericho Rosales' "Pusong Ligaw."

Anyway, we noticed upon entering BLKSHPMNL Studios this so-called "Hip-Hop wall" which Jaworski explained.

"It depicts the cultural influence of US and japan, with OPM King of Rap Francis Magalona in the center," he said. "This wall shows that even if we are influenced by music from other countries, Filipino artistry always stands out."

The other members of BLKSHPMNL are Ruel Guanco (photo and video director), Miguel Olaes and Joanna Victoria Olaes  (HMUA), Alex Pascual (studio assistant), Ryan Evangelista (creative director), Art Aragon (stylist), Ethan Loukas (graphic designer), and Richel Suminguit (gaffer).
